Bamboo Fusion Massage
Bamboo Fusion Massage (sometimes referred to hot bamboo massage) was made popular by the creator of this technique Nathalie Cecilia.

This technique uses warm bamboo sticks of different lengths and diameters for deep tissue massage work.  A twelve-inch bamboo stick is used for large areas to knead the muscles and also uses a crisscross technique to stretch fascia. The shorter tools are used for small areas and deeper work.  The bamboo sticks serve as an extension of the hands and the therapist can easily palpate, find tension, and dissolve knots and trigger points.  They are also used to knead and stretch muscle and fascia in all directions.  The bamboo tool allows the massage therapist to use more strength and stamina for deeper pressure.  The pressure can be as light or as deep as necessary.

The bamboo sticks are wrapped in a heating pad to warm them.  This warmth brings relaxation in a shorter time as it quickly penetrates to relax the muscles.  Massage oil is used with the bamboo sticks.  They are easily cleaned and sanitized with antibacterial wipes.

Who can benefit from Bamboo Fusion?
Anyone who enjoys massage therapy or requires it for healing can benefit from a Bamboo Fusion Massage.  This method allows the message therapist to apply more pressure in an even manner over a large area, so patients who like deep tissue work and harder massage pressure may prefer Bamboo Fusion Massage.  This wonderful technique promotes a deep sense of well-being and relaxation.  Many clients report the positive effects of the bamboo tools seem even longer lasting than a deep tissue massage without the bamboo sticks.

Listed below are ways that bamboo fusion massages can improve your health and well-being:
• Ease headaches and migraines

Raindrop Therapy:
The Raindrop Technique combines the science of aroma techniques of VitaFlex, reflexology, massage and more in the application of 11 essential oils. The Raindrop Technique is a powerful, non-invasive tool for assisting the body in correcting defects in the curvature of the spine. It originated from the research of D. Gary Young while working with a Lakota medicine man named Wallace Black Elk. It utilizes massage, acupressure and the layering of essential oils and blends on the spine to help bring the body into structural and electrical alignment. It is based on the theory that many types of scoliosis and spinal misalignments are caused by viruses or bacteria that lay dormant along the spine. These pathogens create inflammation, which contorts and disfigures the spinal column. The oils used are highly anti-microbial and anti-inflammatory, and are dispensed like droplets of rain along the spine. It will also help to align and clear the energy centers of the body without using force or excessive pressure.

Cupping Therapy

I am trained and certified in the contemporary cupping method from the International Cupping Organization, using glass, silicone, rubber and plastic cups. Simply defined, Cupping is the combination of massage movements and negative pressure with the use of a suction device on the skin. During a session, a cup is positioned at the area to be treated and (depending on the type of cups being used) a vacuum is created within the cup to draw the skin and underlying tissue into the cup. The produced vacuum creates a suction effect that increases blood and lymphatic circulation systemically and to the local area, relaxes muscle tissue and support, draws out stagnation, pathogenic factors and toxins out of the body and releases a myriad of pain causing factors. The intended suction can range from light to heavy. This, along with the movements performed and areas treated by the therapist will produce stimulating (toning) or sedating (draining) effects. Before I perform any cupping therapy treatment, I assess your overall physical, mental and emotional condition. This aids me in being able to employ the proper application of the cups to produce the desired outcome. Cupping can be combined with or used as a supplement to any of my other services. The results from the cups are comparable to other expensive (and many times painful) treatments that usually require large mechanical devices to deliver the results that you expect and want. Cupping helps get deeper work results without the pain of a deep tissue massage. I use cups for a wide variety of ailments such as muscle injuries, back pain, shoulder pain, knee pain, colds, sinuses, allergies, asthma, cellulite, fibromyalgia just to name a few.

Forms of Cupping Therapy Offered:
• Cellulite Treatments • Facial Cupping • Reflexology Treatments • Abdominal Cupping • Orthopedic Cupping
• Sports Cupping • Foot Cupping • TMJ and Sinus Release • Detoxification Treatments • Lymphatic Drainage
• Trigger Point and MyoFascia Release

Benefits are increased blood circulation, reduced puffiness and edema, fine lines and wrinkles. It also helps clear up sinuses, acne and helps with TMJ. The best results from facial cupping are seen after 7-12 weeks of weekly treatments. Once the desired results are achieved, one treatment per month is recommended for maintenance.

Body Treatments:

Scrub-less Thermal Body Wrap
scrub-less thermal body wrap is a type of spa treatment that combines the benefits of a body wrap with the soothing effects of heat, without the exfoliation typically involved in a traditional body scrub.

Here's how it works:
1. Thermal Component: The "thermal" aspect refers to the application of heat, which is usually achieved through heated blankets, wraps, or specific thermal creams and oils. The heat helps to open pores, increase circulation, and promote sweating, which can aid in detoxification and relaxation.

2. Wrap: The body is wrapped in a special material (such as a heated blanket, plastic, or foil) that helps to retain heat and promote sweating. This process can also help to enhance the absorption of any therapeutic ingredients used during the treatment, such as lotions, oils, or muds.

3. Scrub-Less: Unlike traditional body scrubs that involve exfoliating the skin to remove dead cells, a scrub-less thermal wrap skips this step. Instead, it focuses on the hydrating and detoxifying benefits of heat, which can still improve skin texture, promote relaxation, and leave the skin feeling rejuvenated.

Benefits of a Scrub-Less Thermal Body Wrap:

  • Detoxification: Sweating induced by the heat can help release toxins from the body.
  • Skin Hydration: Many thermal body wraps include moisturizing ingredients to leave the skin soft and hydrated.
  • Relaxation: The heat helps to relax muscles, ease tension, and promote an overall sense of calm.
  • Improved Circulation: Heat improves blood flow, which can boost energy and aid in muscle recovery.
  • Non-Abrasive: Since there's no exfoliation involved, it's suitable for sensitive skin types or those who prefer a gentler treatment.

This kind of treatment is commonly offered in spas or wellness centers and can be customized with different therapeutic products based on individual needs (such as anti-aging, firming, or detoxifying ingredients).

This is a relaxing whole body experience that will leave your skin feeling baby soft. You are in a warm cozy cocoon and the session incorporates dry brushing, therapeutic oils and body lotion/cream.

Benefits:

  • Improved circulation: The heat from the body wrap treatment can increase blood flow, which may help muscle recovery and strengthen your immune system.
  • Pain Relief: Can help with minor aches and chronic pain.
  • Skin health: Can hydrate, cleanse, and heal your skin. They can also help tighten and tone the skin, and reduce the appearance of cellulite.
  • Relaxation: The warm, comforting materials of a body wrap can create a cocoon like environment that can help you relax and reduce stress.
  • Detoxification: They can help you shed toxins while you sweat in wrap.
  • Weight loss: They can help you appear thinner and loose a few pounds of water weight and make you feel better about your appearance. The water weight may be temporary.
  • Helps improve the appearance of cellulite
  • Skin rejuvenation
  • Accelerates the metabolism
  • Hydrating and moisturizing the skin
  • Pain Management

Myofascial Release
Myofascial release (MFR) is a type of manual therapy that focuses on relieving tension in the fascia—the connective tissue that surrounds muscles, bones, and joints. The therapy is designed to stretch and release tight areas within the fascia that can cause pain, stiffness, and restricted movement.

The technique involves the therapist applying sustained, gentle pressure to specific areas of the body to release the tension in the fascia. This pressure helps to elongate the fascia, improve blood flow, and restore normal function to muscles and tissues.

Here are the key elements of myofascial release:
1. Fascia and Myofascial Pain: Fascia is a dense web of connective tissue that envelops muscles and other structures in the body. When this tissue becomes tight, inflamed, or restricted, it can lead to pain, reduced flexibility, and dysfunction, a condition often referred to as "myofascial pain syndrome."

2. Manual Therapy: The therapist uses their hands to apply gentle, sustained pressure to areas of muscle tightness or restriction. Unlike other types of massage, MFR involves slower, more deliberate movements, with the therapist maintaining pressure for a longer period of time—sometimes several minutes—on a particular spot.

3. Techniques: MFR can be done in a variety of ways, such as:

  • Direct Release: Applying pressure to a specific area of tight fascia until it begins to release or soften.
  • Indirect Release: Gently stretching the tissue in the opposite direction to encourage the fascia to loosen.

4. Goals and Benefits:

  • Pain Relief: MFR is often used to treat chronic pain, especially musculoskeletal pain such as back, neck, and shoulder pain.
  • Increased Mobility: It helps improve flexibility, range of motion, and muscle function.
  • Reduced Muscle Tension: By releasing tight fascia, it can alleviate the build-up of muscle tension and spasms.
  • Improved Posture and Alignment: Reducing fascial restrictions can improve overall body alignment and posture.

5. Conditions Treated: Myofascial release is commonly used to treat conditions like:

  • Chronic pain (especially in the neck, shoulders, and back)
  • Fibromyalgia
  • TMJ dysfunction
  • Headaches or migraines
  • Sciatica
  • Sports injuries

MFR can be done by physical therapists, massage therapists, or other healthcare providers trained in the technique. It is generally considered a safe and effective form of therapy for many types of musculoskeletal pain, although the intensity of treatment should be adjusted to the individual's comfort level.

For more information on the many health benefits of massage therapy and full descriptions
of the types of massage I perform, please read on...

About Swedish Massage:
This is the most common type of massage therapy. It involves soft, long, kneading strokes, as well as light rhythmic tapping strokes, on the top-most layers of your muscles. This is also combined with the movement of your joints. By relieving muscle tension, Swedish therapy can be both relaxing and energizing...and it may even help after an injury.

The four common strokes of Swedish massage are:
Effleurage: a smooth, gliding stroke used to relax soft tissue.
Petrissage: the squeezing, rolling, or kneading that follows effleurage.
Friction: deep, circular movements that cause layers of tissue to rub against each other, helping to increase blood flow and break down scar tissue.
Tapotement: a short, alternating tap done with cupped hands, fingers, or the edge of the hand.

About Deep Tissue Massage:
Deep Tissue Massage is best for giving attention to certain painful, stiff "trouble spots" in your body. I use slow, deliberate strokes that focus pressure on layers of muscles, tendons, or other tissues deep under your skin. Though less rhythmic than other types of massage, Deep Tissue Massage can be quite therapeutic - relieving chronic patterns of tension and helping with muscle injuries.

About Pregnancy Massage:
During pregnancy, your body goes through major changes. Pregnancy Massage can help with these changes by reducing stress, decreasing arm and leg swelling, and relieving muscle and joint pain. Massage may be particularly helpful during a time when medication and other medical options may be more limited. Using specially designed massage pillows, I will help you get into a comfortable position for this type of massage.

Health Benefits of Massage:
Many types of massage offer benefits beyond simple relaxation. Here are just a few of the health problems that my benefit from massage. However, check with your doctor before using massage for any health condition.

Back Pain: More than one study has shown the effectiveness of massage therapy for back pain. In fact, one 2003 study showed it worked better than acupuncture or spinal modification for persistent low back pain - reducing the need for painkillers by 36%.

Headache: Another type of pain - headache - also responds to massage therapy, as shown by more than one study. Massage therapy can reduce the number of migraines a person has and also improve sleep.

Osteoarthritis: In the first clinical trial looking at the effectiveness of Swedish massage for knee osteoarthritis, participants who received a one-hour massage either one or two times per week had improvements in pain, stiffness, and function.

Cancer:Used as a complement to traditional Western medicine, massage can promote relaxation and reduce cancer symptoms or side effects of treatment. It may help reduce pain, swelling, fatigue, nausea, or depression (for example) or improve the function of your immune system.

Anxiety: A review of more than 12 studies shows that massage helps relieve depression and anxiety. It lowered levels of cortisol by 50%. Massage also increases levels of neurotransmitters that help reduce depression.

While more research is needed to confirm the vast number of benefits of massage, some studies have found massage may also be helpful for: Digestive Disorders, Fibromyalgia, Insomnia related to stress, Myofascial pain syndrome, Parethesias and nerve pain, Soft tissue strains or injuries, Sports injuries, or Temporomandibular joint pain.

Most people can benefit from massage. However, massage may not be appropriate if you have: Bleeding disorders or take blood-thinning medication, Burns or open or healing wounds, Deep vein thrombosis, Fractures, Severe Osteoporosis, or Severe Thrombocytopenia.

Some forms of massage can leave you feeling a bit sore the next day. But massage shouldn't ordinarily be painful or uncomfortable. If any part of your massage doesn't feel right or is painful, I ask that you please let me know right away.

I have been professionally trained, certified, and licensed in the State of Illinois to perform various types of Massage Therapy. The most common known are Swedish Massage,Deep Tissue Massage, and Pregnancy Massage. When I perform a massage on you, I make sure to pay close attention to any problem areas you are experiencing any discomfort with. During the course of massage, I will also ask periodically how you are doing to make sure the level of pressure I am using is good for you. I want you to feel better and relaxed after your massage! No matter which type of massage you choose, I charge a standard rate for all.

My standard massage pricing is as follows:
60 minute massage $130
75 minute massage $150
90 minute massage $180
120 minute massage $240
